-found in lakes and quiet waters on mud or mud and sand (Howells et al. 1996); prefers mud bottoms in shallow ponds or sluggish streams (Read 1954); in large and small streams with little or no flfow usually on mud bottoms (White & White 1977b)

-long term breeder (Read 1954)

-Simpson (1900 in Strecker 1931) reports this species from SW to Central Texas but Strecker (1931) believes it was misidentified Toxolasma texasensis
